I haven't always been a disciplined person. In the past I couldn't follow even the simplest routines. I had an unhealthy diet, exercised little (and hence, was overweight), and didn't have the discipline to commit to the process of changing myself. Today, I follow a strict routine. I have a morning routine, go to the gym three times a week and regularly practice several other sports including tennis, cycling, and swimming. I maintain a healthy diet and constantly work on new, challenging goals to become a better person. It took me years before I finally understood what discipline is and how to apply it in my situation. Now I'd like to share what I've learned with you. In my first book about self-discipline, How to Build Self-Discipline: Resist Temptations and Reach Your Long-Term Goals, I approached the subject of building self-discipline from the perspective of developing impulse self-control. In this book you will learn the ins and outs of building long-term, daily self-discipline rather than just situational willpower. I have all of Martin Meadows books, but this one is my favorite because it distills the most critical elements of success into daily habits, that require self-discipline to maintain. Self-discipline in my daily habits has always been a struggle for me. I like the authors style because you get top quality information in a succinct and powerful way. Every chapter is followed by a summary of the key points, which makes it easy to go back and review what you have read. He also provides resources if a person wants to delve into a topic in more depth. He describes how physical excellence leads to mastery in life, and that we should follow a workout plan religiously as a keystone habit. While this information is nothing new, it is the authors writing style and way of explaining things that makes it such a great book to read. When I finish the book I feel like I have discovered a treasure trove of down to earth, easy to follow tips that will impact my life. I don’t have to wade through 500 pages to get it either. You will gain more in reading his 150 pages packed with gems then you will from reading a much bigger volume. Reading this book has blessed me with greater confidence and motivation to press forward towards my goals by establishing basic daily habits that build self discipline. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

I am retired military, special operations type, and have studied and applied self discipline to many areas of my life. What I like most about this book is the author doesn't waste time typical "rah-rah you can do it fluff", he gets right to the point with specific ways to increase your self discipline in your daily life. He gives you points of research to validate his points and is a straight shooter telling you it takes work. He could give many more examples and add pages to the book, but the concepts are applicable to any are you want to improve.

I love the fact that this book is broken into daily readings. I start each day reading a daily passage from this book. A lot of what's in this book really resonates with me and helps to give me a new or different perspective on forming self-discipline. I learned about this book from a friend who, in my opinion, is self-disciplined. But she reads this book regularly. I, on the other hand, have struggled with forming self-discipline. This book has really helped me.

This book will give you pointers to direct you towards daily discipline.You have to be able to take Martin's real life anecdote's and see how they relate to your individual situations, and the way he writes, he makes it easy to relate. This book has helped me be more focused on what I try to accomplish - from a daily and long term perspective.I have read several books on this subject, but Mr. Meadows' version is thus far the best!

Quick read and great tips. The narrator could be slightly less dry on the audio tape but overall the book has important pointers. Every thing from cold exposure to intermittent fasting... This book says something slightly different from other self help books. Would recommend to anyone that struggles with self discipline and I wouldn't be too quick too assume you don't struggle with self discipline before reading this book.

This book was very helpful without wasting any of your time. It is practical, easy to read, and immediate useful. It is the type of book that even non readers can successfully and quickly get through. You will find yourself putting the suggestions into action right away. Very helpful from the start and a great resource to refer back to as well.

So far I have read three of Martin Meadows books and they all have been pretty solid. I love books and writers that are straight forward and to the point. He doesn't go all over the place. He keeps his teachings simple and blunt. Love this book! Definitely recommend it.
